Thread lifts are a new form of non-surgical facelift suitable for early to moderate sagging. PDO threads are special medical grade threads that are thinner than hair. Thread lifts have over a decade long safety record in surgery and wound closure and are FDA approved. They work by relaxing muscles and tendons, whilst a foreign body reaction improves the blood flow to the are stimulating neocollagenesis. This means that the skin makes new collagen from within. It also stimulates elastin and hyaluronic acid, both substances key to maintaining youthful skin. As one of our patients said, “This treatment seems to keep on giving”. It is a 2 stage treatment with a top-up treatment sometimes required at 3 months. The treatment lasts 18 months although the threads dissolve after 12 weeks.
